Role Summary

The Senior Stylist is a critical member of the in-house web photo studio, responsible for the styling of Terrain product photography. The ideal candidate is skilled in still life styling and has specific experience with outdoor living, garden and lifestyle product styling. The stylist is a key contributor in building on the foundation of our brand aesthetic.

 

The Senior Stylist shares the ecommerce studio objective of driving business revenue through effective styling and depiction of product­— creating an optimal online shopping experience for the customer while simultaneously positioning the brand as a leader and source of inspiration in the home and garden retail space.

Role Responsibilities

  • This position partners principally with the studio team: Senior Photographer, Junior Photographer, Junior Stylist, AD and Production team.
  • Primary focus is product photography styling; however, the role additionally entails occasional creative styling needs both in studio and on location (monthly local location shoots)
  • Management and mentorship of Junior stylist – foster partnership with an investment in growth and development
  • Creative forecasting + mood boarding for Ecommerce Studio
  • Own the brand set + prop style guide: partner with AD to expand and evolve with seasonal updates
  • Garner an overall understanding of weekly product + styling team scheduling
  • Attend weekly Turnover meetings + monthly Buying and Merchandising meetings to gain understanding of new product, seasonal buying concepts and messaging
  • Collaborate with Merchandising team and Sample Coordinators to help manage samples
  • Work closely with Production team and AD regarding shoot calendar planning
  • Understanding of large investments, core and own brand product. Prepare product samples and review board cards for notes with junior stylist and larger team
  • Display a strong sense of composition and how to best communicate product, take initiative to research studio styling standards
  • Proactively request and source props, ensuring that the schedule will not be interrupted or stalled
  • Clearly communicate retouching needs/requests to the photographer when needed
  • Consistently monitor brand presence in relationship to competitors
  • Acts as a team player, supports/ pitches in to help the overall process via— i.e. studio cleanliness and organization, assisting teammates etc.

Role Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in lifestyle and/or ecommerce styling
  • Exhibits a strong knowledge of product styling spanning home, outdoor living, plants, florals, and textiles
  • Anticipates obstacles, and solves problems pro-actively
  • Well-organized, productivity-focused, driven. Takes initiative within the studio to maintain workflow
  • Contributes ideas and solutions to streamline PDP process
  • Able to execute with meticulous detail and exhibits keen understanding of the Terrain aesthetic
  • Self-motivated and a quick learner, able to creatively and independently problem solve
  • Comfortable, positive, and flexible in a culture of continuous feedback and change, with a willingness to learn and grow
  • Able to multitask and manage heavy workflow to stay on schedule and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Displays strong work ethic and professionalism as a leader and example to junior team members and peers
