Role Summary

Anthropologie is seeking a Manager of Cause Marketing to help develop, execute, and manage the company’s philanthropic and signature cause marketing strategies led by the Senior Director, Communication, PR, and Impact. The role will help execute the company’s strategic objectives regarding philanthropic partnerships, spearhead local charitable giving, and manage engagement opportunities for the Anthropologie internal and external communities.

The position requires a familiarity with the current philanthropy landscape and its role within the retail and consumer goods industry.  The ideal candidate will have a strong background in corporate social responsibility or community engagement, experience leading cause marketing programming, and have excellent project management and communication skills. In addition, the successful candidate will have proven success in overseeing initiatives in this arena and be responsible for developing and managing charitable relationships on behalf of the brand. This role involves working closely with internal teams including brand marketing, events, communications, social media, and merchandising, as well as external partners, and community organizations to align our charitable efforts and the marketing activations and programming with the company’s vision, values, and business goals.

Reporting into the Sr. Director of Communications, PR, and Impact, this individual will be looked to as the lead for Cause Marketing and Philanthropy initiatives and serve as the key partner for the broader URBN organization. The candidate must have prior experience working in philanthropy, and/or community-led partnerships in either for profit or non-profit organizations while delivering programs that reinforce the brand’s purpose and values, connecting with various stakeholders via purpose-led initiatives.  The successful candidate will also have past marketing experience, bringing to life cause-related initiatives for our broader community, both internal and external.  

Role Responsibilities

Develop and Implement Cause Marketing & Philanthropic Strategy:

  • Design and execute a comprehensive philanthropy plan aligned with the company’s mission and business objectives and with their Senior Director, inform and champion those plans with brand leadership.
  • Determine brand-specific goals for this function, develop and implement supporting programs to achieve them, measuring progress throughout.
  • Build stakeholder engagement across the organization to drive integration purpose-based programming into overall brand strategic plans 
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional and business unit teams—including Design, Merchandising, Creative, Marketing, Social, Digital, Retail Operations—to develop and execute strategies across product, marketing, customer experience and brand operations 

 

Partnership and Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain relationships with nonprofit organizations, community groups, and other stakeholders.
  • Negotiate and manage partnerships to maximize impact and ensure mutual benefits.
  • Through cross-functional partnership, ideate innovative ways in which Anthropologie can implement their philanthropic partners and programming throughout the brand ecosystem.

 

Community Focused Charitable Giving:

  • Establish charitable giving strategy for Anthropologie, aligning with our brand values and purpose. 
  • Identify key areas of focus for charitable giving and community support and develop appropriate charitable partners for ongoing programming.  
  • Vet and manage local philanthropic requests from individual Anthropologie community members in home office and store teams.

Employee Engagement:

  • Develop and manage employee volunteer programs and giving campaigns.
  • Encourage and facilitate employee participation in philanthropic activities.
  • Drive internal engagement and education across home office and store field teams that aligns and engages the broader Anthropologie brand community.

 

Communication, Measurement and Reporting:

  • Communicate the company’s philanthropic efforts internally and externally.
  • Prepare and present reports on the impact of charitable initiatives to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Manage the content and updates for the philanthropy section of the company's website and social media platforms.
  • Build Programming calendar outlining our initiatives and the marketing amplification of these efforts. 
  • Partner closely with Marketing, Digital, and Creative to ensure the messaging is on brand, on topic, and deployed appropriately.
  • Define KPIs/targets and measure impact of philanthropy programming, charitable giving, and community engagement.  

 

Budget Management:

  • Develop and manage the philanthropy budget, ensuring funds are allocated efficiently and effectively.
  • Track and report on financial expenditures related to philanthropic activities.
  • Serve as key lead with strong partnership to the finance team

Role Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in cause marketing, corporate philanthropy, CSR, nonprofit management, or related areas.
  • Proven track record of concepting, developing and implementing innovative philanthropic programs and new initiatives within an organization.
  • Strong understanding of the nonprofit sector and community engagement best practices.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships at all levels.
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Deep understanding of the current philanthropy landscape, with a passion for impact and community engagement.
