Role Summary

Anthropologie is looking for Buying Interns to join us for the Summer with our Apparel categories.

 

Our Apparel Buying Interns will support the daily operational functions within your designated buying area; offering your unique perspective, supporting the buying team in managing the overall merchandise selection, trend research and building key cross functional relationships with both the market and internal partners: distribution center, design, and production.

 

Please note: At this time, URBN’s Buying Internships are open to rising seniors (current undergraduate juniors) only. If you are currently a junior pursuing your undergraduate degree, we encourage you to apply!

The URBN 2027 Summer Internship Program will run from 6/7 through 8/13 at our Home Office in Philadelphia, PA.

 

Summer Internship Program Application Process:

 

1) Apply to one (1) internship posting that best aligns with your interests and skills. If there is a project component included in the application (see role qualifications below), it is required and must be submitted at the time of application to be considered for the position.

 

2) Complete a Video Interview: Candidates selected to move forward will receive an email with a link to complete a video interview. Once the email is received, candidates will have two (2) days to complete this portion of the application.

 

3) Interviews with our internal teams will be scheduled on a rolling basis.

 

4) To ensure you receive the most up-to-date information regarding your application, please make sure URBN is added to your safe senders or contacts so our emails do not go to spam. If you are using a school email address, please also include a personal email address in your profile as an alternate point of contact.

Role Responsibilities

Samples:

  • Open packages and distribute to the appropriate Buyer for review
  • Organize sample areas (our area, desk, shelves, etc.)
  • Manage and set up samples for all style-outs and other meetings
  • Call in missing samples for all style-outs and other meetings
  • Work with Buyer and/or Associate Buyer to request appropriate number of samples for web turnover, press previews, and other meetings

Mail/Email:

  • Check Mail and deliver twice daily
  • Open mail and distribute to the appropriate Assistant Buyer for review
  • Drops inter office mail off in mailroom
  • Answer emails promptly and in an orderly fashion

Visual Merchandising:

  • Take digital photos of all items
  • Manage and maintain picture packs
  • Take pictures of all style-outs
  • Print department’s classes on the combined web velocity for the Buyer and Associate Buyer
  • Pass all Samples to the Product Coordination team with completed tags and Product information sheets weekly

Vendor Communication:

  • After opening unsolicited samples, contact vendors with feedback
  • Answer various inquiries, especially shipping related
  • Set up new vendors as needed 

Role Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Buying, Merchandising, Business, Fashion, Design or a related field
  • Must exhibit strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Detail-oriented ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency
  • An understanding of the customer’s wants and needs and the ability to identify the appropriate trend/product that will appeal to the customer and meet their expectation
  • Ability to prioritize projects and handle multiple tasks
  • Must demonstrate creative thinking
  • Rudimentary understanding of retail math
  • Curious, creative thinker with a strong product eye and enthusiasm for the Anthropologie brand
  • Analytical mindset with an interest in understanding how sales and customer insights inform product decisions
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills and an eagerness to work cross-functionally

Project Requirement:

In addition to your application and resume, to be considered for this role please submit a Trend Concept Board (8.5 X 11 PDF format is preferred)·  Once you complete your project, please upload it to the additional documents section in the application process.

Create a concept board with 3 – 5 fashion trends you see emerging for the Anthropologie customer in Fall 2027.

  • Pull imagery from blogs, Pinterest, Instagram, runway, etc. to show your point of view – merchandisers, make it into a story!

  • We are looking for forward thinkers showing future inspirational trends that move beyond where we are currently or where we have been!
