Role Summary

The Vibe

Urban Outfitters is looking for a Product-Obsessed Manager of Product Development to lead the charge across our entire Home universe—from statement furniture to creative glassware to fun, quality textiles that define a room.

We aren't just looking for a process manager; we’re looking for a brand steward with a sales-driven mindset. You are someone who lives for the "perfect find," understands the alchemy of quality and cost, and has the grit to turn a sketch into a best-seller. You’ll be the heartbeat of your category, making independent decisions, setting ambitious goals, and driving efficiencies that allow our creative vision to scale.

The Toolkit

  • Subject Matter Expertise: You’re a pro in your field and ready to share that knowledge.
  • Communication: You voice concerns constructively and celebrate wins loudly.
  • Independence: You don’t need a map; you’re the one drawing it.

Role Responsibilities

Your Mission

  • Steward of the Aesthetic: Facilitate and execute the UO Home vision. You’ll source materials and curate textures—whether it’s the perfect wood grain for a credenza or the right weave for a throw—ensuring everything hits the "cool factor" while staying commercially viable.
  • The Bridge Builder: Attend Concept and Sketch Reviews to translate Design’s dreams into reality. You’ll clarify intent, protect the "soul" of a style, and ensure the final product looks as good on the shelf as it did on the mood board.
  • Strategic Growth: Partner with Merchants to analyze adoption rates and style counts. You’re always connecting product decisions back to sales potential—if it’s not going to fly off the shelves, you’re engineering the solution to make sure it does.
  • Global Conductor: Manage and mentor our supplier base. You’ll navigate bulk cost negotiations like a pro, hitting IMU targets without sacrificing the integrity of the piece.
  • Process Innovator: Own the seasonal calendar. From pre-style research to final sample evaluation, you’ll drive speed and precision, ensuring our home collections are first-to-market and top-of-mind.
  • Mentor & Leader: You won’t just manage a team; you’ll coach them. You’ll help your direct reports master the "Brand DNA," foster a culture of consistent feedback, and lead by example with a high sense of urgency and integrity.

Role Qualifications

What You Bring to the Table

  • The Experience: 8+ years of progressive development and sourcing experience. Whether you’ve been deep in the world of apparel or already live in the home furnishings space, you know how to navigate a fast-paced, complex retail environment.
  • The Eye: A deep understanding of product development, and the nuances of home decor. You know what makes a product "special."
  • The Hustle: You thrive on deadlines and are motivated by the challenge of a "hard-to-source" item. You adapt to change quickly and move with a high sense of urgency.
  • The Connection: Proven success in building "ride-or-die" relationships with internal cross-functional teams and external vendors alike.
  • The Leadership: You’re an expert at mentoring others, translating strategy into actionable projects, and working independently to crush your goals.
