Role Summary

Free People is looking for a talented professional to join our Search Team. As our Organic Search Associate, you will be instrumental in the tactical execution of our organic search and AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) strategy. Supporting the Organic Search Associate Manager, you will play a critical role in maintaining the SEO health and growth of a major ecommerce brand. This role is perfect for a detail-oriented marketer who loves diving into data and discovering opportunities. The ideal candidate loves staying at the forefront of fashion trends and the changing search landscape and is adept at performing site optimizations to improve organic search.

Working closely with the Associate Manager of Organic Search, you will be given opportunities to expand your skillset, fostered through Free People’s culture of professional development. This is the perfect role for individuals seeking to pursue a career in organic search and digital marketing.

This position is based in Philadelphia, PA.

Role Responsibilities

  • Blog Optimization: Lead SEO audits of existing blogs to refresh content for better organic traffic capture and AI citations.
  • Category & PDP Enhancements: Conduct keyword research and mapping to optimize category pages and Product Detail Pages (PDPs) to ensure peak performance during seasonal shifts and trends.
  • Merchandising Collaboration: Collaborate closely with the merchandising team to ideate new categories aligned with trends and business priorities.
  • AI Tracking and Optimization: Manage prompt submissions and tracking for Large Language Models (LLMs) to monitor how our brand is represented in AI-generated search results. Assist in AI testing and tactical optimizations across, blog, PDPs, and category pages.
  • Post-Publish QA: Perform quality assurance checks on blogs and category pages post-launch to ensure successful implementation in alignment with SEO best practices.
  • Data Analysis: Support the SEO team with ad-hoc data pulls and reporting to inform performance recaps, future strategy, and upcoming optimizations.

Role Qualifications

  • Detail-Oriented: Able to catch the broken link or missing H2 tag that everyone else missed and can prioritize opportunities based on impact, seasonality, and business priority.
    • Note: Technical SEO optimization/implementation is not a primary focus of this role, as this work is largely owned by a separate team. Though useful to have a working knowledge of the basic elements of technical SEO elements, this is not a requirement.
  • Collaborative: Can translate SEO insights into actionable recommendations for cross-functional partners. You enjoy working with other teams to share findings and ensure SEO goals align with business priorities.
  • Hard Skills: Working understanding of SEO/AEO best practices and tactics with the ability to refresh a piece of content for improved search engine capture.
  • Previous experience: 2-3 years of experience in marketing
  • Interest in fashion/retail: Preferred, with a positive attitude and passion for the Free People brand
  • A curiosity about organic search and digital marketing
  • Experience with the following tools are preferred, but not required:
    • Keyword research tools (e.g. SEMRush, Google Keyword Planner, Ahrefs, etc.)
