The Junior Systems Engineer is responsible for the health, monitoring, and maintenance of URBN's Windows Server environment and core SaaS platforms. This role requires a highly organized self-starter with strong communication skills to coordinate with application teams and manage vendor relations. A key component of this position is the ability to identify and suggest opportunities to apply automation and AI tools to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual tasks.
Server Maintenance: Monitor and maintain Windows servers. Perform OS updates, application upgrades, and coordinate maintenance outages with impacted business units.
Resource Monitoring: Proactively monitor CPU, memory, and disk space. Resolve routine alerts and escalate complex issues to the appropriate teams as needed.
Communication & Triage: Monitor Slack channels and email threads to identify issues requiring team intervention. Provide initial assistance and escalate as necessary.
Vendor Management: Open, track, and manage support tickets with external vendors. Maintain organization and "chase" resolutions to ensure timely closure.
SaaS Support: Provide day-to-day operational support and case escalation for Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 issues.
Operational Projects: Provide infrastructure support for activities related to new store openings and new hire technical provisioning.
Automation & AI: Recognize and flag opportunities for process improvement through the use of automation scripts or AI-driven solutions.
Availability: Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation. This role requires frequent off-hours work for maintenance windows and emergency response.
Experience: 1–2 years of professional technology experience.
Technical Proficiency: Functional knowledge of Windows Server, Google Workspace, and Microsoft 365.
Highly Organized: Ability to track multiple moving parts, including vendor tickets, project tasks, and system alerts simultaneously.
Strong Communicator: Ability to provide clear, concise updates to technical teams and stay engaged in high-traffic Slack/email threads.
Self-Starter: Proven ability to work independently, take initiative on routine maintenance, and follow tasks through to completion without constant supervision.
