Anthropologie Home Temporary Designer - Decorative Accessories

As a Home Accessories Designer specializing in decorative accessories, home fragrance, and giftable items, you will execute, create, and reinterpret designs that bring innovation, beauty, and brand storytelling to the Anthropologie home assortment. This role requires versatility across multiple product types—such as décor objects, candles, diffusers, seasonal gifting, and lifestyle accents. You’ll support the Home Accessories team throughout all phases of product development, balancing creativity with an understanding of manufacturing processes, sensory considerations (for fragrance-based items), and business goals.

Creative Design & Execution

• Translate inspiration, trend direction, and brand vision into finished designs for decorative accessories, home fragrance, and giftable items. Create original concepts and artwork across a range of materials, techniques, and styles that reflect Anthropologie’s unique aesthetic.
• Bring a distinct point of view to each collection by contributing fresh product ideas and driving innovation. Proactively explore new materials, fragrance trends, packaging formats, finishes, and whitespace opportunities through a thoughtful and strategic lens.
• Demonstrate a solid understanding of materials and construction across categories such as ceramics, glass, metal, natural materials, textiles, and fragrance components.
• Apply strong knowledge of color, form, surface design, and packaging to develop cohesive and commercially compelling products.
  Ensure accuracy and clarity in all design packages, specs, and supporting documents.
  
  

Product Development & Collaboration

• Partner with the Product Development team to ensure accurate design briefs and alignment with vendor capabilities, manufacturing processes, and fragrance requirements.
• Assist in creating design documents, including sketch decks, pitch decks, packaging layouts, and fragrance direction decks.
• Design with consideration for price points, customer expectations, business strategy, vendor capabilities, and category-specific constraints (e.g., fragrance load, vessel materials, safety regulations).
  
  

Process & Organization

• Deliver organized, precise, and polished presentations that communicate ideas effectively to cross-functional teams and leadership.
• Provide information promptly to ensure adherence to the development calendar and prevent delays.
  Contribute to process improvement initiatives that enhance workflow efficiency and team collaboration.
• Maintain an organized and accessible design library, inspiration archive, and shared workspaces.

Business & Leadership

• Understanding of manufacturing processes and vendor capabilities for home décor, fragrance, and giftable categories, developed through collaboration with sourcing and product development partners.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Ability to problem-solve and develop thoughtful, solution-oriented approaches.
• Proactive and self-motivated, with a “what’s next” mentality and a positive outlook.
• Openness to clear and direct feedback, with the ability to apply changes effectively.
• Ability to learn quickly from experience and adapt to evolving priorities.
• Strong understanding of the business, customer, and competitive landscape within home accessories and lifestyle goods.
• Emerging leadership skills, with the ability to mentor assistant and associate designers from other teams when needed.

Creative & Technical

• Proficiency in design software and tools (such as Adobe Creative Suite, Procreate, CAD tools, or equivalent).
• Strong understanding of color theory, materiality, packaging, and surface design.
• Ability to translate inspiration into original, thoughtful, and commercially viable products.
• Developing presentation skills with the ability to clearly articulate design decisions and concepts.
