Role Summary

URBN is looking for a 3D Technical Designer & Sourcing Manager. The Manager is responsible for developing and refining digital garments using CLO 3D, ensuring accurate fit, construction, and design intent. This role translates trend concepts and merchant direction into fully realized 3D product prototypes. The position supports a digital-first workflow and drives efficiency by reducing reliance on physical samples. This person must also utilize AI-powered tools for ideation, simulation, and to streamline the digital product creation workflow. Leveraging these digital creations, the manager will also oversee key sourcing functions—from vendor collaboration to generating precise costing simulations—by translating digital product specifications into a production-ready reality.

Role Responsibilities

TECHNICAL DESIGN & DIGITAL WORKFLOW

  • Develop and refine digital garments using CLO 3D, ensuring accurate fit, construction, and design intent.
  • Translate trend concepts and merchant direction into fully realized 3D digital product prototypes without the need for physical samples.
  • Partner directly with merchants, designers, and cross-functional teams to bring seasonal trends to life in a digital-first workflow.
  • Create and maintain digital pattern libraries, leveraging advanced patternmaking knowledge for consistent fit and quality.
  • Utilize AI-powered tools for design ideation, fabric simulation, and to innovate within the digital design process.
  • Apply technical expertise in materials, trims, and construction to ensure digital prototypes match production standards.
  • Provide training and guidance to peers on CLO 3D and AI-integrated workflows to scale adoption across teams.
  • Drive efficiency by reducing reliance on physical samples, supporting sustainable product development goals.

SOURCING & COSTING

  • Communicate with suppliers on sourcing and product development workflow facilitation.
  • Collaborate with vendors to validate digital assets alignment with actual raw materials to ensure manufacturing accuracy and supply chain efficiency.
  • Generate precise costing simulations within CLO and related tools to deliver accurate manufacturing cost in line with our dynamic production and costing frameworks.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of 3D digital product creation technologies, AI innovations, and industry best practices.

Role Qualifications

  • Expertise required in developing and refining digital garments using CLO 3D
  • Patternmaking knowledge
  • Technical expertise needed in materials, trims, and construction to ensure digital prototypes match production standards
  • Ability to maintain up-to-date knowledge of 3D digital product creation technologies, AI innovations, and industry best practices
  • Ability to calculate precise costing simulations within CLO and related tools to deliver accurate manufacturing cost
  • Ability to develop and maintain productive relationships and communicate effectively with internal and external partners
  • Exhibit a strong attention to detail, organizational, and follow-up skills
