URBN is seeking a Senor Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst to deliver high-quality, data-driven insights for a high-growth, agile digital commerce initiative. Reporting to the Analytics Lead, this individual will execute complex analytical projects with minimal oversight, translating business questions into rigorous, actionable insights across the product lifecycle. The role requires exceptional SQL proficiency, meticulous attention to data quality, and the ability to own end-to-end project delivery. The Analyst will serve as a trusted analytical partner to business stakeholders in our fast-paced digital ecosystem.

Role Responsibilities

You are a highly skilled analyst with a passion for precision and analytical rigor. You thrive tackling complex data challenges and delivering high-quality insights independently. You are meticulous in your approach to data quality, capable of thoroughly QA-ing both your own work and others'. You take ownership of projects from start to finish, requiring minimal direction once a project is defined. You actively seek feedback, incorporate it thoughtfully, and continuously refine your analyses to maximize business impact.

  • Execute end-to-end delivery of complex analytical projects with minimal direction, ensuring high-quality outputs that drive business decisions.
  • Extract, transform, and analyze data using advanced SQL, demonstrating mastery of query optimization and data manipulation.
  • Conduct deep-dive analyses across trend analysis, product development, merchandising, and customer behavior.
  • Provide rigorous quality assurance of all analyses—both your own work and that of team members—ensuring data accuracy and reliability.
  • Partner with the Analytics Lead and business stakeholders to translate business questions into analytical approaches and actionable recommendations.
  • Solicit feedback from cross-functional stakeholders, incorporate their input, and iterate on analyses to meet evolving business needs.
  • Design and build dashboards, reports, and visualizations in BI tools (Looker, Tableau, or similar).
  • Collaborate with Data Scientists and Engineers to understand data structures, identify data quality issues, and optimize analytical workflows.
  • Document analytical processes, queries, and methodologies to promote knowledge sharing and maintain analytical standards.

Role Qualifications

 

  • 4+ years of experience in analytics or data science roles with demonstrated ability to deliver complex projects independently.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL with deep experience in complex data querying, manipulation, and analysis (window functions, CTEs, subqueries, joins, query optimization, etc.).
  • Exceptional QA skills with proven ability to validate data accuracy and debug complex queries—both your own work and others'.
  • Experience with modern BI and visualization tools such as Looker, Tableau, Power BI, or Google Data Studio.
  • Strong attention to detail with commitment to analytical precision and data quality.
  • Proven ability to manage projects end-to-end with minimal oversight once project scope is defined.
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to solicit stakeholder feedback and translate it into analysis improvements.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a quantitative discipline (Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or related field).
  • Strong business acumen with ability to translate technical findings into clear, actionable insights.
  • Experience in retail, e-commerce, or fashion industry preferred.
  • Strong statistical knowledge is a plus but not required.
  • Specialization in additional tools (Python, dbt, LookML, R, etc.) is a plus but not required.
  • Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (BigQuery, Google Analytics) is a plus.
