Role Summary

URBN is seeking a Senior Manager of Analytics to drive data-driven decision-making for a high-growth, agile digital commerce initiative. This individual will serve as the Analytics owner, leading all analytical efforts across the product lifecycle—from trend analysis and product development to merchandising and operations. The role involves close collaboration with Data Science, Engineering, Product Management, and business stakeholders, particularly the Director of Buying. The Analytics Lead will define the analytics vision, establish key metrics and reporting frameworks, and translate complex business questions into actionable insights that accelerate innovation within our fast-paced digital ecosystem.

Role Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end analytics strategy, establishing metrics, reporting standards, and frameworks that drive operations and long-term planning.
  • Work closely with the Director of Buying and merchandising teams to define and track key performance indicators for product selection, inventory, and customer behavior.
  • Coordinate with Product Management to align analytics capabilities with platform priorities and ensure data insights support strategic product decisions.
  • Coordinate with Engineering to ensure data sources are designed and structured to support business-driven analysis and custom reporting needs.
  • Collaborate with Data Scientists to define analytical requirements, provide business context, and translate model insights into actionable recommendations.
  • Lead a team of 1-2 Business Intelligence Analysts in developing dashboards and reporting solutions.
  • Conduct deep-dive analyses across trend analysis, product development, merchandising, and customer insights to inform strategic decisions.
  • Design and deliver compelling visualizations, reports, and presentations to communicate findings at all organizational levels.
  • Drive the selection and implementation of analytics tools and methodologies that balance innovation with consistency.
  • Establish data quality standards and governance practices to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Build strong partnerships with peer analytics teams across URBN to leverage best practices and shared resources.

Role Qualifications

 

  • 5+ years of experience in analytics roles with demonstrated progression in scope and responsibility.
  • 2+ years leading analytics initiatives or managing analytical teams.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL for complex data querying, manipulation, and analysis.
  • Experience with modern BI and visualization tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau, Power BI).
  • Solid understanding of statistical concepts and analytical methodologies.
  • Strong business acumen with ability to translate insights into clear recommendations.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a quantitative discipline (Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, or related field).
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities and ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced environments with flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Experience in retail, e-commerce, or fashion industry preferred.
  • Experience with Python or R for advanced analytics is a plus.
