Role Summary

FP Movement is looking for a Manager of Raw Materials. Reporting to the Director of Raw Materials, the manager will be responsible for the implementation of the raw material strategy, meeting design's vision for raw materials while also adhering to the business goals of the company in terms of IMU, lead time, quality and efficiency.  The Manager of Raw Materials will also lead and mentor a team. 

Role Responsibilities

  • Help define a clear mill matrix appropriate to the brand by fabric and yarn type so that business can be driven to key core competent mills and the brand business can be highly leveraged as a result. 
  • Continuous `benchmarking with regards to price and lead time so that we are right first time with development.
  • Helps to drive fabric innovation - keep the business up to date on relevant fabric trend and new developments, through continuous sourcing and fabric development.
  • Strategic seasonal developments to the design/buying teams with “right first time” fabrics that are aligned with calendar and business needs to drive adoption rates and leverage.
  • Fabric engineering to adapt design concepts into price points and brand quality and technical function requirements.
  • Work closely with cross functional partners within concept, design, PD, Production and overseas offices to ensure communication is clear and consistent with regard to fabric.
  • Continuous lead time and price negotiation – follow leadership strategies to increase efficiency and to reduce fabric price and lead time.
  • Be the point person within the brand for all fabric related issues on certain categories of the business, including issues such as ownership, payment terms, fabric claims etc.

Role Qualifications

  • Minimum 7 years experience in Activewear textile sourcing for a retailer brand.
  • Extensive technical knowledge in yarn, fabric, knitting, weaving dyeing and finishing of Activewear fabrics.
  • Solid knowledge in the latest functional finishes and chemical suppliers.
  • Knowledge of lab testing, global and commercial fabric testing criteria.
  • Experience in sustainable fibers and processes is preferred.
  • Strong excel and analytical skills.
