Role Summary

Anthropologie is looking for a passionate and driven Assistant Designer to join our innovative and collaborative team. In this role, you’ll be instrumental in supporting the design and development of our private label collections. Partnering closely with the Designer, you’ll contribute to the creation and sourcing of compelling product that reflects our brand’s unique aesthetic and speaks to the heart of our customer.

Role Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Designer and Director of Sourcing to support and maintain the seasonal development calendar.

  • Execute assigned design development projects as directed by the Design Director or Designer.

  • Prepare development packages and coordinate all related communication and follow-up in partnership with the Design Coordinator.

  • Oversee the development and execution of trim packages to ensure design integrity and consistency.

  • Create and maintain spec sheets for all garment bodies, clearly communicating fit and construction details to the Technical Design team. Complete all technical sketches for both domestic and international programs.

  • Manage weekly fit sessions, ensuring the Design, Merchandising, and Production (DMM) team is present and actively engaged in the process. Any significant design changes must receive DMM approval prior to updates being made to the spec.

  • Play an active role in weekly Design Flow Meetings—take detailed notes and follow up on all outstanding items to ensure alignment and progress across teams.

Role Qualifications

  • Exceptional communicator with a proven track record of effective cross-functional collaboration across Buying, Production, and Design teams.

  • Strong team player who thrives in fast-paced, highly collaborative environments.

  • Creative and strategic thinker with demonstrated ability to develop innovative, cost-effective design solutions that align with brand and business objectives.

  • Deep technical knowledge of apparel construction across knit, woven, and/or sweater categories.

  • Comprehensive understanding of fabrics, trims, and material applications, with a keen eye for quality and detail.

  • Well-versed in fabric treatments, garment washes, and dyeing techniques, bringing depth and character to product development.

  • Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and production methods for knit, woven, and/or sweater apparel.

  • Skilled in trend research and forecasting, with the ability to anticipate color, fabric, and design direction 9–12 months ahead of the season.

  • Strong ability to identify and translate emerging fashion and cultural trends into concepts that resonate with the Anthropologie customer.

  • Proficient in CAD software, with the ability to clearly communicate design concepts through precise and visually compelling technical sketches.
