Role Summary

Free People is looking for a Raw Materials Coordinator to assist in the execution of a raw materials strategy that allows designs vision to be met while supporting business goals in terms of IMU, lead time, quality and efficiency. This role is highly data-driven, with a strong focus on analysis to inform decision-making and optimize processes. 

Role Responsibilities

  • Own the knit departments within all internal and external communication, works through developments, negotiations, and follow the KPI targets under the guidance of Fabric Director.
  • Complete development sheets/send outgoing developments based on Director’s allocation, cost engineer and/or reallocate whenever the target is not met.
  • Coordinate with PD to pull seasonal fabric roll and update price/lead time in the chart.
  • Inquire on fabric detail sheets and secure sample yardage for seasonal development.
  • Set up and maintain Tradestone (URBN PLM System) fabric folders.
  • Maintain daily communication with cross functional partners, fabric mills, and garment agents as needed
  • Update ownership charts and call out if there is any issue with the balances.
  • Assist in setting up seasonal presentations.

Role Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in textile related field
  • 3-5 years in fabric merchandising or fabric sourcing with a large US/EU company preferred
  • Has solid knowledge of fabric, costing, machinery and fabric manufacturing
  • Understands the brand aesthetic and able to make suggestions on fabric qualities to support for their categories.
  • Has an understanding of dimensional and physical stability as it relates to fabric testing
