Role Summary

Urban Outfitters is hiring a Web Production Manager, who oversees the operations and processes of the web production team, acting as a mentor, trainer, and leader to junior team members. This role manages several direct reports and provides hands-on support to ensure team success. The ability to step in and assist with day-to-day tasks when needed is essential.

 

Key responsibilities include increasing visibility and transparency of high-level brand initiatives, driving operational efficiency, and solving complex problems using both technical expertise and business acumen. The manager is accountable for measuring team productivity, setting publishing benchmarks, and managing marketing initiatives. During peak seasons, this role also provides critical brand support.

 

This position serves as both an advocate for the team and a strategic partner to the Director, contributing to the execution of brand initiatives and the overall web experience for all urbanoutfitters.com North America domains.

 

The ideal candidate is dynamic, flexible, and thrives under pressure. Success in this role requires exceptional organizational, communication, and prioritization skills, a sharp eye for detail, and expert-level knowledge of merchandising and content management systems. The ability to strategically filter and prioritize feedback and requests is key.

Role Responsibilities

  • Lead a multi-level web production team, providing mentorship, training, and day-to-day support.
  • Oversee web operations and user experience for the North American website and app, including owned and dropship inventory, product attribution, publishing, content, taxonomy, catalog hierarchy, category navigation, and site merchandising.
  • Manage high-visibility product launches and marketing campaigns, ensuring seamless technical execution and optimal user experience.
  • Develop and implement scalable processes to improve key web production tasks such as product activation, QA, promotions, and on-site search maintenance.
  • Collaborate with Ecommerce and Digital Marketing teams to align brand vision with UX, functionality, and merchandising strategies.
  • Analyze performance data to inform strategic decisions that improve conversion and drive sales.
  • Execute site promotions, A/B testing, and merchandising strategies.
  • Partner with leadership and external vendors to support site enhancements and functionality improvements.
  • Own publishing targets and contribute to conversion rate optimization goals.
  • Represent the web production team in cross-functional tool development and operational communications.
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with cross-functional teams including DTC Technology, Buying, Operations, Photo Studio, Styling, Copy, DC/Call Center, SEO/Digital Marketing, Planning, Marketing, Analytics, IT, Product Management, UX/Research, Merchandising, and Creative.
  • Oversee reporting on team performance metrics such as product activation, on-site search, and navigation management.

Role Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher.
  • 4+ years of experience in an ecommerce organization.
  • 2+ years of experience managing direct reports.
  • Expert-level knowledge of web-based tools including PIM, CMS, on-site search, merchandising systems, and catalog management platforms.
  • Proficiency with analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Tableau).
  • Strong Excel skills for business reporting, data analysis, and workflow optimization.
  • Experience managing a retail website and app, with a deep understanding of site hierarchy and product feeds.
  • Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., Jira, Asana) for tracking timelines and deliverables.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for cross-functional collaboration and leadership alignment.
  • Highly organized and deadline-driven, with strong troubleshooting skills and follow-through.
  • Understanding of digital marketing channels and ecommerce best practices.
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Skills + Experience

  • Experience using AI tools like Microsoft Copilot.
  • Familiarity with SEO best practices for ecommerce.
