Role Summary

Urban Outfitters is looking for an Assistant Merchandiser who is responsible for working with the Merchandiser or Associate Merchandiser to create an exciting and timely product assortment for the curated Urban Outfitters marketplace (UO MRKT) that meets or exceeds sales volume goals for the program.

Role Responsibilities

  • Through a demonstrated understanding of the target UO customer and an ability to select the appropriate product/trend that will appeal to that customer, assist the merchandising team in seller and product selection.
  • Manage the recruitment process for new sellers, from initial pitch to onboarding.
  • Work with sellers to prepare product data, including photography and copy, for merchandising team approval.
  • Establish strategies to ensure that UO MRKT products are presented in the most compelling way possible on the website.
  • Analyze the business, through attribute performance such as color, size, silhouette, material, and brand, to assist the merchandising team in responding to business needs.
  • Act as a liaison between the Sellers and the Merchandiser.
  • Respond to customer feedback and market trends and develop action plans that drive category-specific growth and increased profitability.
  • Make recommendations to the Merchandiser for on-site merchandising, marketing, and promotional opportunities for the Sellers.

Role Qualifications

  • 1-2 years retail buying, merchandising, or marketing experience preferred
  • Must be able to present visual information in a compelling and clear way
  • Exhibit a professional communication style (both verbal and written), demonstrated through clear and concise presentation skills, excellent organizational skills, and a high sense of urgency
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the customer's wants and needs, the shopping experience, and the ability to creatively identify the appropriate product/trend that will appeal to the customer
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities
  • Detail oriented
  • A Team Player
  • Proficient in Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion, Business, or a related field.
