Role Summary

Free People is seeking a Design Coordinator who will support the Design Team with administrative duties and tasks as needed in support of the creation, development and execution of own brand product design and development.

Role Responsibilities

 

  • Maintain an active role in weekly Design Flow Meetings. Take notes and manage follow-up communication on all outstanding issues in collaboration with the Designer.

  • Support the seasonal development calendar in partnership with Designers, Buyers, Technical Designers, and Production.

  • Execute specific design development projects as assigned by the Designer, and manage the development and execution of trim and artwork packages.

  • Set up spec sheets for all private label products and assist the Design Lead with market developments and follow-up communication as needed.

  • Partner with Product Development (PD) to track the daily status of styles in development, ensuring product execution aligns with design specifications and timelines.

  • Prepare development packages and participate in related follow-up communication.

  • Review incoming garments with the Designer and PD partners to confirm they align with the original design intent and brand standards.

  • Assist in sample preparation for monthly sales review meetings by collaborating with the Designer on innovative presentations that effectively communicate the line to Buyers and Brand leaders.

  • Perform special tasks as needed.

 

Skills

  • Design tools: Procreate; Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop

  • Experience in assembling artwork and embellishment packages preferred

  • Excellent communication skills for conveying ideas and inspirations, and for interacting with Designers, Buyers, and other cross-functional partners

  • Strong organizational and relationship-building skills, with the ability to intuitively respond to and reprioritize tasks as needs shift during the development process

  • Self-starter with a bias for action
