Role Summary

Free People is looking for a Digital Optimization Analyst to join our Analytics team. The right candidate will possess a balance of analytical skills and strategic curiosity.

 

This role plays an integral part in driving digital strategy by carrying out analyses and working closely with the larger Digital team to implement optimizations on the website and app that support customer acquisition and retention and drive topline brand growth. The Analyst will contribute to an environment of fact-based, data-driven decision-making within the Free People brand, leveraging URBN’s rich first-party data to uncover global trends across marketing and ecommerce.

 

The Analytics team is part of the integrated Free People Digital Team which includes Marketing, Content, Consumer Insights and UX. We collaborate with a wide range of cross-functional teams and leadership across Free People and URBN to share action-oriented insights and drive the direct business.

Role Responsibilities

  • Analyze browser behavior and purchase patterns across Free People’s site and app to understand customer mindset, identify patterns and friction points, and provide actionable recommendations
  • Support Free People’s A/B and multivariate test program, including performance analysis, behavioral insights, and interpreting business impact
  • Collaborate on planning and QA of A/B tests, partnering on hypothesis development, variation refinement and cross-functional communication
  • Develop, distribute, and maintain enterprise-wide reporting, measurement methodologies, and KPIs
  • Lead ideation and creation of new high-impact reporting views and visualizations
  • Assist in QA of onsite tagging and lead communication to flag and resolve issues
  • Partner frequently with creative, web content, and merchandising teams at Free People to collaborate on site strategy, as well as digital analytics groups URBN-wide to share learnings and best practices
  • Turn quantitative insights into qualitative recommendations and distill data down to actionable opportunities through clear delivery and communication skills

Role Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Statistics, Data Science, or a related field
  • Strong aptitude for reading and understanding quantitative data with curiosity about how users behave and what drives their decisions
  • At minimum two (2) years analyzing data and translating insights into stories with actionable recommendations, preferably in retail or ecommerce environment
  • Experience writing and executing queries in a database environment (SQL/SAS/R or similar)
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong ability to juggle multiple priorities at once
  • Strong communication skills to champion data in a creative organization
  • Collaborative personality with the ability to also work independently
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, results-oriented organization

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience using a data visualization tool (Tableau, Qlik, Domo)
  • Experience with digital analytics applications (Google Analytics, Adobe Omniture, etc.) measuring site performance and engagement
  • Working knowledge of A/B testing principles, including test design, segmentation, statistical significance, and interpretation of behavioral outcomes
  • Project management or cross-functional stakeholder coordination experience
