Role Summary

Nuuly is seeking a Director of Digital Merchandising & Commerce Strategy who will spearhead our digital strategy across our website and app. This role is pivotal in creating a cohesive approach that enhances customer engagement, loyalty, and conversion through our subscription model and Thrift Shop. The primary focus will be on optimizing site performance through strategic merchandising, customer state-specific storytelling, and feature optimization by collaborating closely with merchandising, marketing, creative, and buying teams. In addition, you will act as the business stakeholder for site technology enhancements, working with product, UX/CX, data science, analytics and tech teams. Finally, you will be central to informing the strategy for Nuuly’s recently launched Thrift Shop, owning the roadmap and P&L. 

The ideal candidate is a proactive, curious leader with a strong background in e-commerce and a passion for direct-to-consumer sales. You thrive in dynamic, fast-paced environments and are driven by data. Role Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize a cohesive digital strategy tailored to our product lines (Rental, Thrift, Marketplace) and customer segments (prospects, subscribers of all states) to enhance engagement, drive conversion and spread rental utilization across a large portion of our existing inventory
  • Partner with DMM - Buying and Associate Director of Merchandising to ensure big ideas and relevant are trends are communicated to customers via all possible channels (site, app, social, SMS, paid media, etc)
  • Refresh and monitor site and app performance metrics, leveraging existing UX modules and partnering with marketing, design, copy, and product to test, iterate, and scale effective content blocks. 
  • Act as the stakeholder between product, UX, tech, creative, and analytics to ensure cohesive, user-first site experiences 
  • Effectively implement strategies that drive revenue and enhance the overall consumer experience in partnership with marketing, merchandising, buying, and tech teams.
  • Partner with 3rd party vendors to drive enhancements driven by analytics that will improve product discovery and inventory utilization
  • Drive personalization initiatives by collaborating cross functionally to usher a more engaging, individualized experience to Nuuly’s site and app
  • Represent and advocate for strategic digital merchandising priorities in both internal Nuuly and  cross-brand tech development meetings
  • Own Thrift Shop strategic  roadmap with a focus on driving revenue,clearing product, and engendering loyalty
  • Build and nurture a team as necessary to drive shop optimization, Thrift revenue opportunities and on site/app customer experience, identifying hiring or resourcing needs as business grows

Role Qualifications

  • Deep experience in a customer-centric industry in merchandising, digital strategy and UX/CX
  • Strong understanding of retail market trends and consumer behavior
  • Experience in business planning and strategy development
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
