Role Summary

Urban Outfitters is looking for an Allocation Manager who will be responsible for managing both pre-season and in season store inventory, sales, and choice ownership with 4-6 direct reports.  The manager will collaborate with Store Planning, Distribution Centers, Planning, Buying, Visual and Marketing providing insight into product flow and store opportunities.  With the teams core objective to oversee the distribution of product to optimize the customer experience and improve regular price sell-thru.

Role Responsibilities

 

  • Meet or exceed sales, gross margin and inventory sell-thru goals.
  • Oversee sales and inventory plans by store, class, attribute, or size.
  • Review Divisional allocation outputs each month for alignment to ideal segmentation, inventory and choice count goals
  • Collaborate with Buying and Planning on monthly allocation strategies.
  • Participate in Divisional business reviews to support buying strategies.
  • Provide divisional store insight and opportunities based on sales and productivity.
  • Oversee store product initiatives including store test selection, tracking, and results.
  • Provide seasonal store hindsight at a topline level to guide pre-season store buys.
  • Lead the training of all new hires to your team, and conduct regular developmental training for your team.
  • Support the training of allocators to analyze class store metrics and provide actionable insight.
  • Ensure your team delivers to the New Store plan expectations of proper depth and breadth of opening assortment.
  • Share best practices to ensure consistency across deliverables.
  • Visit stores on a regular basis to understand site specific opportunities

Role Qualifications

  • Minimum 5+ years in Allocation/Planning required
  • Minimum 1+ years of experience with leading a team.
  • Ability to analyze store metrics including sales, profitability, and productivity.
  • Excellent communication skills to share store insights and ideas to cross functional team.
  • Organizational skills are necessary to manage multiple tasks and projects.
  • Leadership skills to build and develop a solid team of individuals who successfully work in a fast-paced team environment.
  • The ability to delegate and direct the daily deliverables of allocation.
