Role Summary

Anthropologie is seeking an Associate Designer specializing in structured washed product to help design and execute collections each season, ensuring it aligns with the seasonal theme and overarching aesthetic of the Anthropologie brand.

Role Responsibilities

  • Assists in interpretating seasonal fashion direction, assortment opportunities, and merchandise trends for area
  • Actively participates, contributes, and assists Designer in creating seasonal assortment
  • Manages development and execution of trim packages and completes all technical callouts
  • Sets up spec sheets for all bodies/styles, prepares development packages and participates in all communication and follow up related to each package
  • Communicates fit and construction details to Technical Design department
  • Prepares presentation materials for seasonal benchmark meetings such as Sketch review, Sample Review, and Print + Color Day
  • Maintains awareness of trend, shares research and inspiration
  • Monitors developments, anticipates problems, and initiates solutions in a timely manner to minimize problems or delays
  • Works closely with Design and Buying partners to gain an understanding of financial reports and earnings as they relate to design production
  • Provides reliable and responsible support to Designer/Assistant Director
  • Proactively represents their team and a Design point of view at all relevant meetings while communicating the necessary information to their manager
  • Collaborates with various departments about target approvals, execution, and outcomes
  • Receives feedback with a willingness to collaborate on ideas and necessary changes
  • Builds and sustains positive collaborative relationships and maintain open and proactive communication with multi level cross-functional partners
  • Proactive about finding work/offering help or support to teammates during down time or critical times
  • Able to work through complex disagreements and conflict to achieve resolution
  • Takes ownership of projects from start to finish

  • Independently seeks out a strong knowledge of trends, target market demands, customer, brand objectives and design aesthetic
  • Brings a desire and ability to build efficiencies
  • Flexible, adaptable with the ability to flourish in a fast paced, high pressure and challenging work environment
  • Displays positivity and desire to solve problems and improve processes
  • Strong understanding of the Anthropologie target customer
  • Ability to respond to business objectives with creative, innovative and cost-effective design
  • Excellent ability to sketch design ideas accurately and emotionally, strong sense of proportion and can accurately illustrate details
  • Working knowledge of garment construction, fabric and trims, wash and dye treatments and techniques
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with partners in Design, Buying, PD, Tech Design, Print/Color + Concept
  • Excellent hand and computer sketching/ CAD skills in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop as well as Procreate
  • Proactive and self-motivated
  • Organized with a strong ability to prioritize multiple deadline driven tasks and flexibility to adapt to a fast paced and frequent changes
  • Possesses mocking, draping, sewing and other technical skills related to garment making
  • Experience with washed product – denim & PFD
  • Familiarity & knowledge of structured fabrications
  • 2-3 years in Assistant role recommended
