Role Summary

Anthropologie is looking for an Assistant Buyer who is responsible for working with the Buyer to create an exciting product assortment that meets or exceeds the sales volume and profits for their department.

Role Responsibilities

Job Skills

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the target customer and the ability to select the appropriate product/trend that will appeal to the customer and meet their expectations
  • Fundamental understanding of the statistical components of the business (IMU%, MD%, GM%, WOS, etc.) and the OTB
  • Exhibit a professional communication style (both verbal and written) as shown through strong presentation skills, excellent organizational skills and a high sense of urgency
  • The ability to prioritize tasks in order to balance the immediate and long term needs of the business with a high sense of urgency

 

Assortment Execution

  • The Assistant Buyer works with the Buyer to determine the overall mix of product for each buying area to ensure that the final mix is ultimately customer oriented and curated to achieve a set profit plan.
  • Work with buyer to place buys with accuracy and in a timely manner

 

Organizational Support

  • Provide ad hoc statistical reports to Buyers upon request
  • Help to maintain accurate Buy Sheets and other important documents
  • Take photos of samples when needed and maintain Assortment Sheets

 

Sample Management

  • Work with the Merchandise Assistant to help manage the samples within the Department
  • Ensure that all “kept” samples are neatly organized and easy to access
  • Regularly clear out old samples and maintain tidy sample area.

 

Merchandising & Visual Support

  • Collaborate with Merchandising counterparts to help execute our seasonal marketing and messaging cadence to ensure photo shoot samples are handed off smoothly and managing delivery targets
  • Support site optimization efforts to improve customer experience
  • Prepare for Visual Showback meetings to ensure an accurate walk through

 

Teamwork + Communication 

  • Develop collaborative relationships with internal and external partners including: planning, creative, allocation, visual, sourcing, design and vendors
  • Contribute to a positive team morale participating in discussion, idea generation and team tasks that need extra support
  • Facilitates the sharing of new product, current trends, key investments, and visual priorities through weekly meetings with the team
  • Represent and confidently speak about the Anthropologie brand and customer to all outward facing market vendors
  • Manage large magnitude of email streams across internal and external partners and in turn, be able to communicate and give updates to manager regarding feedback, actions and support where needed

Role Qualifications

  • 2-3 years experience in buying role
  • Consistent ability to exhibit professionality
  • Strong organizational and prioritizing skills
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities
  • Detail oriented, accuracy focused
  • Creative thinker and passion for Anthropologie customer
  • Team player with strong listening, written & oral communication skills
  • Technology proficient – quick to learn and utilize systems
  • Proficient in Microsoft programs
