Role Summary

Free People is seeking an Assistant Design Coordinator support the Sweater Design Teams across Collection Sweaters and We The Free Sweaters. This role assists with administrative duties and tasks essential to the creation, development, and execution of own-brand product design across Sweaters categories.

 

Role Responsibilities

  • Play an active role in weekly Design Flow Meetings by taking notes and helping manage follow-up communication on outstanding tasks in partnership with Designers and PD teams.
  • Support Tech Pack creation and updates by generating style numbers based on PD's allocation chart and ensuring all details are accurately filled in.
  • Input sketches, design packs, and trims into the BOM once they’ve been approved by the design team.
  • Maintain and update starter pages, ensuring labels are accurate across Sweaters and Swits categories for both Collection and We The Free.
  • Collaborate with PD daily to track the status of styles in development, ensuring the product aligns with design specifications and stays on schedule.
  • Prepare development packages and assist with vendor follow-up communication as needed.
  • Manage shipping and package pickups for the Sweaters category.
  • Review incoming garments alongside Designers and PD partners to confirm accuracy and alignment with the original design intent and brand standards, updating TS as needed.
  • Partner with Production, PD, and Design teams to update bulk approvals in Tradestone.
  • Assist with sample preparation for monthly sales review meetings by working with Designers to create engaging presentations that effectively showcase the line to Buyers and Brand leaders.
  • Help organize and suggest new tools to keep the design team on track for upcoming deadlines.
  • Support special tasks and projects as needed.

Role Qualifications

  • Strong organizational skills and enthusiasm for working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proactive and self-motivated mindset is important for success in this role.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft platforms, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Experience with artwork and embellishment package preparation is a plus.
  • Clear and effective communication skills to share ideas and inspirations, while collaborating with Designers, Buyers, and Cross-Functional partners.
  • Ability to build strong relationships and adapt quickly to shifting priorities during the development process.
  • Familiarity with design tools like Procreate or Adobe Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop) is a bonus.
  • Basic understanding of apparel construction.
  • Foundational knowledge of design processes.
