Role Summary

URBN is looking for a QA Engineer who will be a part of the Retail Engineering team. This team is responsible for delivering the technology used in-store daily at Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, Free People, and Terrain. We work closely with brand operations, payments, and store teams to engineer performant and forward-thinking retail experiences that benefit both the business and the customers. This QA Engineer will lead, review, and participate in development testing activities relating to the point of sale and mobile point of sale solutions. As part of a cross-functional agile team, this QA Engineer will utilize the latest technologies and testing tools to ensure the team continuously releases quality functionality to URBN’s retail application suite.

Role Responsibilities

  • Produce effective and detailed software test plans and test cases
  • Lead testing effort as well as support improvements in performance, scalability, and user experience
  • Perform exploratory testing during iterations, identify and perform regression tests

  • Collaborate with QA and cross functional team members on all project related testing

  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Product Owners, Architects, Developers, and other QA Engineers to deliver 
high quality products
 while meeting deadlines
  • Provide feedback on the various testing results and assist in shaping release efforts that support various 
business initiatives

  • Contribute to and maintain Retail QA documentation
  • Create and maintain an automated testing framework

Role Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field, or Coding bootcamp graduate 

  • Experience working in a tech-focused QA environment

  • Experience working with RESTful web services

  • Meticulous attention to detail and a willingness to learn

  • Curiosity and enthusiasm for investigating
  • Working knowledge of retail and online commerce

  • Proven success working in Agile software development methodologies

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities

  • An analytical mindset to not only identify bugs but also find the root cause

  • Experience with front-end automation frameworks such as TestCafe, Selenium, Webdriver, etc.
  • Experience with Jira and Confluence
  • Open to being mentored and/or mentoring others on the team

  • Retail experience
