Role Summary

Free People is seeking an Assistant Design Coordinator to support the Structured Design Teams across Jackets, Bottoms and Denim with administrative duties and tasks as needed in support of the creation process, development and execution of own brand product design and development.

Role Responsibilities

  • Owns new styles creation process in Tradestone system as well as support design team with any updates and added information supporting design process to complete full design packs.
  • Updates and owns adding all colors, trims, Yarn Dye, TOP approvals etc. into each BOM’s to help support design teams
  • Partner with PD on the status of styles in development daily to ensure product execution meets design specifications and are on track in style development process.
  • Support seasonal development calendar in collaboration with cross functional partners ensuring all deadlines are met.
  • Maintain an active role in color, print and wrap around meetings. Take notes and own follow up communication on all outstanding issues in collaboration with Designers.
  • Manage all trim, tailoring body and yardage requests for designers with seamless communication.
  • Oversee the tracking and organization of design samples for all styles.
  • Review incoming garments with Designers to ensure they are correct and in line with original intent as well as brand standards.
  • Assist in sample preparation for monthly sales review meetings by collaborating with Designers on innovative presentations that effectively communicate line to Buyers and Brand leaders.
  • Help organize and propose new tools to help streamline the design process for all styles.
  • Prepare development packages and participate in follow up communication related to each package.
  • Responsible for daily package pick-ups from B543 sourcing department.
  • Perform additional administrative or design-related tasks as needed.

Role Qualifications

  • Strong sense of organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Proactive and self-motivated is a must for this role.
  • Proficient in Microsoft platforms (Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent communication skills to communicate ideas and inspirations to others and to interact with Designers, Buyers and other Cross Functional partners. 
  •  
  • Strong organizational and relationship building skills and ability to intuitively respond and reprioritize as needs shift during the development process.
  • Design tools knowledge is a nice to have but not required: Procreate, Adobe Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop).
