Role Summary

URBN is looking for a Sales Reconciliation Analyst who will be responsible for daily review and reconciliation of store and direct-to-consumer (online sale) transactions for all brands.  Also responsible for the verification of electronic payment types specific to credit cards and other credit transactions (ie. PayPal/other); ensuring all transmissions are entered properly.  Responsible for succinct, timely communication with stores and related internal departments to help maintain a high level of customer care.   The primary goal of the analyst is to accurately reconcile the credit card and other electronic payment sales banking transactions against the general ledger in order to ensure accuracy and integrity of the financial statements.

Role Responsibilities

  • Reconciles daily credit cards and other electronic payments on a transactional level in Recon-Net. Research exceptions to automated reconciliation process; resolves out of balances timely.
  • Completes daily process associated with customer settlement disputes (“chargebacks”) in order to ensure timely dispute response and minimize loss to the organization. Meets required deadlines.
  • Works with retail locations to ensure the utmost customer satisfaction is upheld in regard to settlement inquiries.
  • Completes daily process associated with reauthorizing and recapturing cash settlement on customer orders via various electronic payment methods
  • Partners with the Store Operations and Loss Prevention groups to ensure store procedures are clear and up to date relative to transactions, special receipts, and overages/shortages.
  • Assists with development and compilation of periodic reporting to accommodate changes in the business environment and/or requests from internal or external departments. Performs other ad hoc reporting as requested.
  • Assists and provides support to Sales Reconciliation Supervisor and team in any major initiatives impacting the department.
  • Supports the monthly calendar sales close process and completes duties in an accurate and timely manner. Performs journal entries where necessary. Completes monthly reconciliations through ReconNet Reconciliation system.  Ensures all entries are accounted for and added to the monthly reconciliation posting. 
  • Supports the annual SOX audit requests by providing supporting documentation as needed

Role Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent job experience; Accounting, Finance, or Business degree preferred
  • Capable of navigating through financial systems; Recon-Net or other automated reconciliation software experience a plus
  • Strong analytical skills; ability to analyze data in an organized and clear fashion combined with the ability to identify, trend and report issues
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office knowledge including Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to manage high volume of transactions in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to work with high degree of accuracy and integrity; Highly detail-oriented and a self -starter
  • Can effectively communicate with upper level management and external customers in both a written and verbal manner
  • Prior retail experience a plus
