Role Summary

Urban Outfitters is looking for a Home Hardlines & Furniture Design Intern to join us for the Summer of 2025. The hard goods intern is responsible for assisting in the design and execution of private label design development for all product classes relating to hard goods. This includes Decorative Accessories, Furniture, and Lighting. The position also includes Novelty and humor point of view across products related to the UO customer.

The URBN 2025 Summer Internship Program will run from 6/2 through 8/8 at our Home Office in Philadelphia, PA.  

 

Summer Internship Program Application Process:

    

  1. Apply to one (1) internship posting that best suits your interest & skills.  If there is a project component required for the design internship position you are applying for, you will be notified directly by 11/8. If requested to complete a project, it is required that you submit this to be considered for a position. 

  

  1. Complete Video Interview: Candidates selected will receive an email with a link to complete a video Interview. You will have 2 days to complete this portion of the application once the email is received.   

  

  1. Interviews will be scheduled with our internal teams, continuing on a rolling basis.    

  

Applications will close at 5:00pm EST on November 4th 2024. 

Role Responsibilities

  • Assist in the creation of innovative and brand appropriate design solutions.
  • Complete detailed design briefs for all new product development, both internal and market product.
  • Assist Designer and Buyers to develop a cohesive product assortment that both fulfill business needs, as well as pushing the envelope with new product development.
  • Research globally and domestically for new materials, processes, and fabrications.
  • Research and present to Design team new product and trend ideas for each season.

Role Qualifications

  • Knowledge of home hard goods products including furniture, lighting, decorative accessories.
  • Knowledge of construction details, manufacturing processes and material specifications.
  • Ability to create detailed product specifications to be sent to vendors for manufacture.
  • Strong Computer skills: Photoshop, Illustrator, SolidWorks a must.
  • Strong sense of home and overall design trends.
  • Ability to work within a team to create the best product that is focused on our customer.
  • Ability to respond to business objectives with creative and innovative design solutions.
  • Ability to successfully manage workload efficiently.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with partners in Design, Buying and Production teams.
  • Strong organization skills, as this job requires multi-tasking on many levels.
